DARKOVERCON WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Greenspring Ballroom 2

FRIDAY

5:00 PM - Making perfume splashes or oils. Sample the scents of various essential and fragrance oils. Blend your own personal scent in an oil or perfume base.
Limit 12, $3 fee.

6:00 PM - Historic Costuming 101. How to get Started.

SATURDAY

10:00 AM - Spinning for the Rotationally Impaired. Learn to spin wool into yarn on a CD spindle. You get the spindle, some wool, a handout with tips & tricks, individual instruction & I'll be around all weekend for help if you need it. You will learn to get started, to spin, & to take your yarn off the spindle & what you can do with it. If you have materials but are mystified, bring your stuff and I'll help!
Class limit 8, materials fee $5.00

11:00 AM - Early Playford Dances. Susan de Guardiola. (2 hours)

2:00 PM - Portable Kumihimo (Japanese Braiding). Limit 10. Material fee $4. Learn a fancy cord for costumes & jewelry. New pattern suitable for all levels.

3:00 PM - Stained glass workshop. Learn about stained glass design, materials & techniques. Create a small, predesigned stained glass suncatcher to take home.  Learn all steps and techniques needed to continue working with stained glass.

4:00 PM - Continued from above. Cut glass, wrap pieces with copper foil & solder them together to finish their project. Students will be working with extremely sharp edges of glass & metal & hot tools! Some supplies and tools will be available for purchase after the class.
Materials fee is $15.00, limited to 12 students. Note: students under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

5:00 PM - Scrimshaw workshop. Create scrimshaw images on reclaimed ivory. Create a design & carve it into ivory, then ink the design to create scrimshaw. Requires a beginner's level of draftsmanship; working with sharp knives. You will take home your project, materials required to create scrimshaw of your own, knowledge of what items/surfaces can be used for Scrimshaw.
Materials fee is $20.00; class is limited to 5 students.Anyone is welcome to watch and learn!
